EnergieDigital - Integrated description of technical building services in BIM to enable planning and operation of energy efficient buildings

The digitalisation of the construction sector including the building services is a crucial instrument to implement the energy transition. The aim of the EnergieDigital project is to develop a consistent and systematic method for linking the domains of building services engineering and building operation in Building Information Modeling (BIM) in order to reliably achieve the defined energy efficiency targets. The successful application of this methodology will be put into practice in a flagship project. On the one hand this includes the development of a consistent representation of the energy-relevant properties of building services in BIM, which contains performance indicators and operational attributes in addition to technical product data. On the other hand the connection of such a digital representation to existing guidelines and tools in the field of monitoring and operational management needs to be developed, for example by means of standardized data point identifiers.

The methods and procedures to be developed are intended to make a significant contribution to ensure the energy performance of buildings. The main goal is to be able to map within the BIM-based process not only the planning and design of technical building services but also the commissioning and the operating phase of these systems including the energy monitoring. In this way, planning errors can be avoided and the full potential of energetic operational optimisation can be tapped. Within the framework of this project, missing specifications are to be supplemented, especially in the field of building automation, operational management and optimisation. In addition to that, foundations for normative work are to be laid and the solutions developed in the planning process and operation of a plus energy building are to be demonstrated in practice.

The seminar centre planned as a demonstrator will offer training courses for the heating and sanitary sector, both for planners and for contractors. The main areas of competence of Viega GmbH & Co. KG focus on drinking water hygiene and underfloor heating systems.
